"Dance has been part of my life for as long as I can remember…"
My dance journey began at a very young age, training in ballet, tap and jazz for all of my childhood and so on… But a huge part of my love for performing came from my beloved Nan, who introduced me to musicals, live shows, ballet and the magic of storytelling through music and movement.
Over the years, my love of dance grew into something much more than a passion and naturally led me towards teaching. I discovered how much I enjoyed not only dancing myself, but helping children and adults learn, improve and find their own enjoyment in movement. What started as a passion gradually became a career, and I’ve now been teaching dance for over 15 years.
Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to train and work across a wide range of styles, including Hip Hop, Street Dance, Jazz, Commercial, Jazz Funk, Heels, Feminine Dance, Shuffle, Tap and Musical Theatre. With the few added ballroom styles with my husband too.
Exploring different styles has taught me that there is no one “right” way to dance, it’s about finding the movement, music and style that you enjoy and makes you feel good.
I’ve now been teaching dance for over 15 years, working with people of all ages and abilities, from young children taking their very first steps to adults who have danced for years.
But as my own journey has evolved, so has the part of teaching dance that means the most to me.
I’ve become particularly passionate about helping adults reconnect with themselves through dance, whether they’re returning to something they once loved or discovering it for the first time.
Over the years, I’ve seen just how much of an impact dance can have beyond the movement itself, on someone’s confidence, self-expression, happiness and the way they see themselves. Seeing that positive change in people is one of the things that makes teaching so rewarding for me.
I also love working with dancers who are experienced and want to refine their technique, build confidence, improve their performance and continue growing as dancers.
For me, dance isn’t about being perfect or having years of experience. It’s about movement, expression, confidence and enjoying the process of learning, improving and having fun.
After spending time teaching my one-to-one lessons, I’m now extremely excited to be bringing group classes back into my life. With beginner-friendly adult classes in different areas, I’m building a space where people can come and discover what dance can give them.
And while I may be the teacher, I’m still very much a student too. I’m constantly learning, training and exploring new styles, because I believe it’s important to keep evolving alongside the dance world. Dance is constantly changing, and what it looks like today isn’t the same as when I first started. So I’m always looking for new ways to grow, develop and bring new ideas into my teaching.
I’m incredibly grateful that Dance has given me so much throughout my life, and that I can continue to share that with others.
I’m excited to keep learning, keep creating and keep growing.
Welcome to Flexa Dance!
